We finally had a breakthrough. Fucking finally.

I lost count of how many times we tried to explore that ship, everyone was getting tired of this case and with good reason. Bren even decided to ignore the protocol last week and tried to sneak in by himself. Motherfucker went missing for hours and by the time we got to the ship he was getting lost in the loop too, it took us a few tries to break him out. Can’t say it wasn’t amusing to see him full of himself, adamant THIS time he had the perfect plan, and see it all fail again. And again. And again. You know the drill.

After we rescued Mr. Stubborn, we decided to take a small break from the case. Those people weren't going anywhere anyway, and we made sure no one could get near that ship. Our plan detailed in the last report was a success: folk from the nearby town are afraid to come near the site thinking the place is full of ghost vampires, and we also haven’t seen any treasure hunters or pillagers in a good while.

I was resting at my place when my friend texted me talking about this new dance club she found, asking me if I wanted to meet her there tonight. My mood wasn’t much for dancing, but I thought it couldn’t hurt to try to have a little fun, I was stressed and needed to relax so I said okay.

Later that night we meet up at Wallace’s, as usual, to get a few drinks and wait for a couple more friends before heading out. When everyone’s there, we take the door to a modern city. Busy streets, sprawling commerce, some skyscrapers, the usual. And then we approached the harbor. The very sight of ships made me sour a little, but then my jaw dropped. The very same ship, in the very same place, but all lit up with party lights, a line of people waiting to get in, and no time-loop curse shenanigans.

I asked my friend if that was our “dance club” tonight and she said yes.

What a prank from the Cosmos. In one realm, people are stuck in a bad mash of “Titanic” and “Extreme Vomit Monsters 5”, and in the other the very same ship is housing a New Wave & Post Punk dance night.

I immediately called the team and told them to meet me there ASAP. Getting deep into the ship was always very difficult, so that was a golden opportunity for us. Of course, there was still no way of knowing where or what monsters awaited us, but knowing the ship’s layout beforehand would still be a massive advantage in our planning (especially Bren’s).

Blending everyone in the party wasn’t much of a problem. Only Layla and Bren are not fully human, but make up and some appropriate clothing did the trick. Worst case scenario they would be regarded as tourists or cosplayers of some niche fandom. And so we spent the night scouring every corner of the ship, making an accurate map in our crystalarium. We had to sneak into a few “employees only” areas, but that society has no knowledge of the arcane, so magic made this trivial.

The next day we got back to our base near the time-looped ship to begin brainstorming a new plan, and this time I felt confident about our chances. Some monsters and obstacles seemed completely avoidable, or at the very least easier to dispatch.

We also devised a better plan to safely guide passengers away from danger. We’re still not sure what will happen when the source of the loop is contained, but based on previous cases we’ve studied, there’s a good chance everything that happens in the last iteration will not be undone, so we’ll do our best to minimize harm and casualties. I will report again as soon as I can.
